Position Summary

This person will work very closely with the Communications Director on a wide variety of communications and marketing activities related to shaping and sharing the Foundation’s message. The role requires strong research and writing skills, and preferably experience in one or more of the following: public relations, speech development, web and social media communications, and marketing collateral. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Communications Director.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide research, writing and editing support for executives and other Foundation representatives for speeches and articles.
  • Research and write materials about the Foundation’s grantees and topics related to social entrepreneurship and social innovation.
  • Place media stories, field media inquiries, and maintain media archives.
  • Help develop internal processes to manage ongoing content development, review, and promotion.
  • Manage the production of print and online marketing collateral.
Qualifications and Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Demonstrated interest in the Skoll Foundation and its mission.
  • An active listener with strong verbal and exceptional written communications and editing skills.
  • Experience in more than one communication specialty; preferably in one or more of the following: public relations, speech development, web and social media communications, marketing collateral, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels and across the organization.
  • Desire and proven ability to work in an intense, results-oriented environment.
  • A strongly developed sense of integrity, humility and discretion.
Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following education and experience:

  • 6+ years of experience, preferably in a range of communications disciplines
  • A record of significant accomplishment in more than one aspect of communications (e.g., PR, writing, social media, speechwriting, etc.)
  • Advanced degree in communications or marketing a plus
  • Previous experience in the social sector and with social entrepreneurship highly desirable
CompensationA competitive compensation package will be commensurate with background.
