Women are no longer “collateral damage,” but the center of many wars, often facing rape and death. That’s the premise of a new PBS series, “Women, War & Peace.” Skoll Awardee ICTJ Communications Director Refik Hodzic was one of the voices in the first episode last week (above). ”I Came to Testify,” narrated by Skoll Awardee Water.org Co-founder Matt Damon, tells the story of 16 brave women who testified against Serb war criminals at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
This case was the first in history where rape was judged as a crime against humanity. As part of ICTJ’s support in promoting the five-part series, the producers were invited to discuss the issues in a podcast.
